The Power Of Having An Impact And How One Couple Changed My Life! -

When I was 19 years old, I met a couple who changed my life forever!

Mary and Sam were very good friends with my parents. They lived in my home country Nigeria and came into the UK regularly to meet with their suppliers.

Whenever they were in the UK, they would stop by our house and spend time with us. It was during those times I got to really know them.

I got really close to Mary and many times we would talk into the wee hours of the morning. There was just so much to learn from this woman!

Mary used to work in a bank. She’d leave home at 6am before her kids woke up and by the time she got home, they would be fast sleep. She couldn’t take them to school herself, and when it was home time, she wasn’t there either because she was busy working at the bank!

She told me that many times, she’d cry herself to sleep, go to bed and wake up the next day to go through the same vicious routine.

While she was telling me her story, in my head, I was thinking…’there’s no way I’m going to ever let that happen to me’!

A few years later, I got married and had my adorable son.

I went back to work 21 months later and I saw myself living the exact same life Mary had described to me! I worked two hours away from home only to get home too exhausted to even read my son his bedtime story.

It felt awful, frustrating and excruciatingly painful to not have to spend time with my boy.

Anyway, Mary carried on like this until one day she realised that living like that was slowly killing her. So she made a radical decision one day! She called it quits, resigned from her job and started her business!

Within a few months, it became the top company in their city selling children’s educational toys and she started living a totally different lifestyle. She had more flexibility to be there for her kids at last.

At the time I met this couple, they were already very successful.

What intrigued me about them, was that they were young, they had two kids and they travelled a lot! I was only 19 at the time but I remember thinking that ‘THIS is the kind of life I desire to have’!

That’s what got me into reading my first personal development book – ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’! By the way if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it!

I can’t remember how I heard about it, but I bought it, consumed it in one day and I got hooked! I made up my mind that I would one day have my own business and be like Mary.

That dream didn’t start until 5 years later after I had my son and started a luxury wedding stationery design business.

Although I had to work a job in the early stages, I was excited that I was finally doing something about my dream!

I later on went on to create a blog that was getting over 25K visitors per month and sold thousands of dollars in products from that blog!

In early 2015 I decided to bring together all my knowledge of creating a successful offline and online business to work directly with coaches, consultants and anyone who had a service to offer that they are super passionate about!

My dream has evolved over time, and right now my dream is to powerfully impact the lives of thousands of women across the globe and earn my first million by the time I’m 40!

(Gasp!!!) Did I really say that?!! There was a time when all I thought was possible for me was to have a ‘good’ job earning £45K per year!!

I’m still a long way from that goal, but I’m forever grateful to Mary and Sam for being an example of what’s possible!

To this day, I don’t think they realise the effect they had on me.

They showed me what was possible.

They showed me that I could dream really BIG.

And I guess that’s where my strong determination to succeed wildly came from.

Mary and Sam, made a lasting IMPACT on me and that’s what I am about.

IMPACT!!!

….Creating an impact on people, whether it’s a new friend I meet at church or on the playground, or my clients or even strangers who stumble across me and my work online.

People may not remember the details of what you did for them, but if you have made a powerful and lasting impact on them, they will remember that something profound happened in them when they met you.
