So let me start by asking you a question…
Have you ever had an experience where you heard someone speak or you stumbled on their website and there was something about what you saw or read that you just couldn’t get it out of your head for a couple of days?
What was it about them that impacted you in a powerful way?
Was it the tricks and gimmicks and how amazing their Facebook ad was, or was it because you saw something about them that you could identify and resonate with?
HERE’S THE THING:
If people cannot resonate with you, your message or whatever you say is going to go straight over their heads.
They won’t see how you can help them because they haven’t connected with you at all.
All they are going to see is the SAME OLD BORING STUFF that everyone and their dog is doing!
So put more of YOU into your business and your message. Your ideal clients need to see parts of themselves in you.
And the best way I know to do this is by sharing your story.
SHOW THEM the highlights of your journey, the low times, your fears and aspirations!
And I know that you are wondering…..that……. ok, this sounds awesome, but HOW do I do that!
Here’s a simple way to start sharing your story in a deep way that will impact your audience.
Get clear on who your ideal client is.
(Duh…..) I know you’ve heard this over and over again, but it’s really that important! Everything about your business starts with this foundational piece.
Know what they want, what their challenges and frustrations are their demographics.
Get clear on how your ideal clients think their life should be AND what their current reality is.
The bulk of the pain that your audience is experiencing is in the areas where there is a mis-match between their ‘shoulds’ and their current reality.
Then get clear on the zone of relevance and empathy.
This is the zone where somewhere along your journey, you have felt how your ideal clients are feeling about their frustration.
So for example, my ideal clients are women who are so passionate about the positive change they want to bring to the world. They have done everything they can to market their business, they’ve even tried copy-catting other successful women’s marketing/branding with the hopes that it will work for them, but it’s NOT WORKING!
So I tell my story of how I found myself in those shoes in my first year of business, where I was working so hard and getting tiny results and how I stumbled on this woman online who impacted me so much with her story. You can read the rest of my story here….
When you share your story, your people will see themselves somewhere in your story and will be deeply impacted by that.
As they take in your content, they are going to be thinking…..’THIS IS ME‘ or…..’THIS IS WHO/WHAT I WANT TO BE‘.
And that’s what creates the emotional bond that will inspired them to reach out to you for your support.
It can be very scary….
I know…. it can be very scary to share what’s really gone on for you or what you’ve really been through to get to where you are….
BUT THAT’S WHAT PEOPLE RELATE TO THE MOST!
Many times, it’s those stories from your dark moments that will have the greatest impact on your audience.
So don’t be afraid to share.
If you feel like you are marketing, posting on Facebook all day long, doing all the ‘shoulds’ of building a business and you are not getting the results you want, then it might just be that your people are not connecting with you.
Maybe they are not resonating with you so they are ignoring your message or any marketing you are doing!
And that means that it’s time to change your approach!
Put more of you into your marketing.
You don’t have to copy that six figure earner.
Seriously you don’t.
Share your stories. Your stories are unique to you and will make you stand out.
Plus people seem to remember a good story so much better.
