I’m sharing from my personal experience because I have done what I’m suggesting that you DO NOT do that resulted in so much wasted time and zero income months!
And it’s this thing around using cute words fluffy phrases or catch phrases to describe what you do and communicate your offers.
Using cute, vague, and fluffy words in your marketing might make sense to you…..
….it might even sound wonderful to you and even if it makes some sense to your potential clients on the surface, it WILL NOT stir up anything in them that remotely makes them interested to know more about how you can help them.
Yes, you might get lots of ‘likes’ and ‘comments’ (I got that too), or people telling you how amazing you are, but the truth is that cute words, fluffy phrases and catch phrases are not powerful enough to invoke the emotions that will lead to people reaching out to you for help!
So here are some examples of what I mean.
Helping people live their dreams…
….or helping people transform their lives….
These are cute phrases that sound great but they are VAGUE and NOT SPECIFIC.
And I hate to break it to you but if you are not as popular as Oprah or Les Brown, you’ll have an extremely difficult time with that!
Another example….
Helping female entrepreneurs grow their business…..
I used to use this one when I first started my coaching business and I had a hard time signing anyone up!
The point I’m trying to make here is that if you want the right people signing up for your discovery calls and then becoming clients, you’ve got to be SUPER SPECIFIC in everything!
You’ve got to be specific about who you are helping and what you are helping them with.
So going back to the example I gave earlier….
Instead of helping people grow their business, identify the SPECIFIC area that needs growth, what kind of growth they are looking for…… and speak to that!
Instead of helping people transform their lives, identify what exactly in their lives need to be transformed and address that.
So my friend……before you put out any piece of marketing…..a webinar, a post, an email or whatever!…
Ask yourself….is this specific enough?
And also ask yourself….
Is there any confusion about who this is speaking to?
Get clear on these two questions and it will make a HUGE difference to your results and bottom line.

Great advice Ruth! I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to that said they are trying to marketing to everyone. BIG mistake. When you try and market to everyone you end up talking to no one. The more specific you get the easier it gets coming up with content to attract your ideal customer to you.
