I’ll never forget the trip I took to China with my parents after graduating from university. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on, but… there was a little challenge!
We didn’t speak a word of chinese and we realised that everyone we came across in that province did not speak a word of english!
Infact I could tell from the stares we were getting that some of them had probably never seen black people in their whole life! lol!
I remember trying to ask a waitress at a restaurant for a fork and frantically waving my hands trying to communicate.
But the waitress I was speaking to kept shaking her head trying to let us know that she couldn’t understand what I was saying.
I ended up getting very frustrated because she wasn’t getting my message!
That’s what happens when you are speaking a language that your ideal clients do not understand, they just don’t get your message.
And I’m not talking about english, french or chinese!
I’m talking about the exact words and phrases that your clients use to describe the challenges they are facing, and the problem they want solved.
If your message is not clear to them, they will ignore you and move on to the person who understands the problem they want solved and can also communicate that to them.
So if you want to succeed in 2016, it’s crucial that you learn how to speak your ideal client’s language.
It’s crucial that you communicate the value and benefits of what you have to offer in a way that they understand.
Getting clear about your ideal clients, and your target market, makes this process so much easier.
When I got really clear about who my ideal clients were, people started getting my message and how I could help them.
I went from 2-3 discovery calls a month to 17 discovery calls over a two and a half week period. I started having more people saying YES to working with me.
For me that’s huge because I used to get NO after NO consistently so it was amazing to experience the switch from NO to YES!
